Therapy for OCD

We help teens & adults experiencing intrusive or obsessive thoughts and compulsions to regain control of their lives.

This isn’t who you really are—and yet, you can’t seem to stop. Your life feels controlled by these thoughts and fears.

You’ve tried avoiding thinking about them, ignoring them, suppressing them, and doing things to prove to yourself they’re not true, but there they remain. You’re scared about what this means about you, and the constant Googling, researching, and seeking reassurance doesn’t ever seem to work.

You’re tired of feeling overwhelmed by the fear of “what if.”

You’re ready to find true relief.

What we help with

Common signs of OCD:

  • Fears or intrusive thoughts related to things like contamination or germs, religiosity, health, sexual deviance, safety, or hurting others

  • Isolating from friends or family out of fear of inability to control yourself

  • Being triggered by certain people or situations

  • No longer enjoying the things you have in the past

  • Avoiding going out or eating in public

  • Hyperfocusing on body sensations like breathing, swallowing, or heart rate

  • Feeling consumed by your thoughts, even if appearing to function “normally” from the outside

  • Knowing the thoughts are irrational but not being able to stop them

  • Engaging in compulsive behaviors as a way to appease the fears

How OCD therapy works

We’ll help you understand the obsession and compulsion cycle so you can stop it for good.

First and foremost, know this: you are not crazy. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is the result of your brain attempting to keep you safe, not because something is wrong with you. We’ll equip you with education about what’s happening inside of your brain and body, and then work with you to put you back in the driver’s seat of both.

Our therapists are trained in Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), the “gold standard” evidence-based practice for treating OCD. In ERP, we’ll begin by building a fear hierarchy based on your OCD-related fears and identify the associated compulsions. Then, using the hierarchy as a guide, we’ll collaborate on defining exposures to tackle each compulsion. We start with the least distressing fear and work up from there, allowing you to build mastery over your fears and gain confidence.

As new fears and situations come up (because they might!), your therapist will be there to support you and reinforce ERP principles along the way. Eventually, you will be able to use your skills and knowledge to tackle new fears and compulsions on your own, helping you re-engage in the relationships, hobbies, and things that are important to you.

Our goal is to help you create a life guided by your passions and values, no longer letting fear and anxiety hold you back from the fulfillment and joy you deserve.
